One (1) winner will receive a $500 cash prize.*

WHEN: Entries open on September 1, 2018 and close on March 1, 2019.

WHO: Any author published either independently or via small press.**

ELIGIBILITY: Books published January 1, 2014 – January 1, 2019. All fiction genres, except for children’s. YA is acceptable. Minimum word count is 25,000. You can submit as many books as you like, but you must complete the entry process for each book separately. All books must be available on Amazon.

COST PER BOOK: $15 (from Sept. 1 – Dec. 1), $25 (Dec. 2 – March 1).

DEADLINE: March 1, 2019.


WINNER ANNOUNCED: March 31, 2019.

AWARD: $500 in cash.

CRITERIA: All books will be measured by the same overall standards of quality, including cover design, interior design, editing, and, of course, writing.

JUDGING: All award decisions will be made by Northern Lake’s publishing team, headed by publisher and editor-in-chief Craig A. Hart.

Craig A. Hart is the owner and founder of Northern Lake Publishing. He is also the author of the Shelby Alexander Thriller Series, the SpyCo Thriller Series, and the Simon Wolfe Mystery Series.


Erik Therme is the author of several books, including Mortom, Resthaven, Roam, and Keep Her Close. Therme has thrashed in garage bands, inadvertently harbored runaways, and met Darth Vader. When he’s not at his computer, he can be found cheering for his youngest daughter’s volleyball team, or watching horror movies with his nineteen-year-old.


Beth Lynne is a published author and accomplished editor with an impressive list of academic achievements. Her eye for detail has played an important role in providing the indie publishing world with topnotch editing and manuscript critique.
